  I had just started working at an antique shop in the 1980's when Victorian styling become popular. So many beautiful reproductions of period pieces were in demand for a season or two. Here is a great example of a quality reproduction -- the styling, color and size are so authentic, it's hard to tell the difference when compared to the antique inspiration. The difference can be seen in the flowers -- the antique dishes are often handpainted. The floral detail on this one is from high definition transfers (while brush marks can be seen, there is no difference felt when running your finger over the painted items. Painted items always have a bit of a raise in the feel).
  
  ITEM: Covered cheese plate for display and serving. Victorian styling, includes purple and pink floral motif, with gold detail. In excellent vintage condition - no chips, cracks, repairs, knicks, discoloration, or any marks to show wear or age (as something over 100 years old would show). Gold detail is brilliant in color. Marked R&S Prussia.
  SERVING PLATE: measures 9 1/2" long, 6 3/4" wide.
  COVER: measures 8" long, x 5 1/2" wide, 5" at tallest end, 7" to top of handle from cover bottom.
