  This 1977 Royal Copenhagen jubilee plate was designed by Sven Vestergaard, and is dedicated to one of Denmark's scientists, Hans Christian Orsted, born in 1777. Orsted, depicted here in his laboratory, was a Danish chemist and physicist who discovered electric currents create magnetic fields. This phenomenon is known as Oersted's law. He also discovered aluminum. The plate is part of Royal Copenhagen's annual series, commemorating historical figures.
  
  Royal Copenhagen marks on back, along with artists mark. Measures 7 1/4" diameter, and is in excellent condition -- no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches.
  
  Perfect gift for blue and white plate collectors, or history buffs. Also nice in a library, school STEM, or gift for science buffs.
