Vintage Vase Flavia Montelupo Italy White Brown Swirl Ceramic 8.5" Tall
This wheel-thrown pottery vase, marked Flavia Montelupe Italy, 8 1/2" tall, 6 1/2" at widest point. The mouth is 2 3/4" wide, and the base is 3 3/4" diameter. We love the subtle swirls of brown, beige, hunger green, burgundy throughout the vase. This vase is in excellent condition -- we found no damage, scratches, nicks, repairs after thorough inspection.
Flavia pottery was produced 1976 - 2001 in Italy. Bitossi and Flavia are two different companies owned by the same parent corporation of Gruppo Colorobbia, headquartered in Montelupo, Fiorentino, Italy. Flavia created various pieces for the U.S. market, for high-end retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue. (From 1976 - 2001 and up to 2001, all pieces created by both Bitossi and Flavia carried only the Flavia mark on the bottom.) These sculptural items are the result of great Italian design, and exceptional craftsmanship.
All items from Bitossi/Flavia were not mass-produced: each was wheel thrown, hand made, hand decorated pottery, which makes each a one-of-a-kind collector piece.
